Company stock is often acquired through an ESPP (Employee Stock Purchase Plan), stock options or restricted stock plans, and/or part of a company’s match in their 401(k) plan. Company stock can be very rewarding, but its lack of diversification can be risky as well. If you want to sell some of your company stock, there may be challenging time constraints and tax consequences to consider.
Like with other limitations, we try to work the portfolio allocation around it and keep it in consideration when making other investment choices. We can develop a plan to divest of your company stock over a number of years.
