Fees for Investment Services

Blue Water does not take custody of any of your assets. We use TD Ameritrade as our independent custodian.
Accounts not held at TD Ameritrade, like 401(k) / 403(b) plans, are considered “held-away” accounts. We can include held-away accounts in our Investment Management services if desired. Advisory fees on held-away accounts are typically half of the regular annual fee since we do not have authority to trade or instruct the account in any manner (change contributions, purchases, reinvestment, etc.).
In addition to the Blue Water advisory fee (discussed above), there are two other investing fees to keep in mind:
- Portfolio expenses:
- Custodian expenses:
There are no upfront or deferred sales charges. However, each fund charges an expense ratio. This is how the fund companies are paid. The expense ratios of the portfolios we construct typically range from 0.17% - 0.30% depending on the stock-to-bond ratio.
Trades generally range from $7 to $15 depending on if they are stock/ETF or mutual fund trades. This is how the custodian is paid.
Note - These are fees you will incur regardless of who is managing your portfolio.
