Fees for Investment Services
The following tables serve as a guideline to help you estimate the fees for our investment management services.
|PORTFOLIO AMOUNT||ANNUAL FEE|
|Advisory fees are billed quarterly in arrears. The minimum fee is $1,000/quarter. Fees may be negotiable.|
Blue Water does not take custody of any of your assets. We use TD Ameritrade as our independent custodian.
Accounts not held at TD Ameritrade, like 401(k) / 403(b) plans, are also regularly included in our Investment Management services. We provide a 25% discount on non-TD Ameritrade accounts because we do not have trading authority on those accounts. Clients, with our instruction, will need to place trades themselves.
In addition to the Blue Water advisory fee (discussed above), there are two other investing fees to keep in mind:
- Portfolio expenses:
There are NO upfront or deferred sales charges. However, each fund charges an expense ratio. This is how the fund companies are paid. The expense ratios of the portfolios we construct typically range from 0.12% - 0.20% depending on the stock-to-bond ratio.
There are NO trading fees for Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) and stocks, but some mutual funds have transaction charges that generally range from $7 to $15 per trade. This is how the custodian is paid.
Note - These are fees you will incur regardless of who is managing your portfolio. We keep these fees in mind in the design of your portfolio, and try to minimize them in the execution and management going forward.
